The tribute band GODAMN SUPERSTAR was created between 1997/98 by its singer Dr. Damn, (aka Pierre), inaugurated with a big gig in an arena, built for international concerts. After this first show in Italy, the Godamn Superstar were regularly toured across Europe for several years to date. One of the best shows was played in 2001, when Manson himself, and some members of his MARILYN MANSON, presented themselves as guests in the "1st Italian Marilyn Manson Convention and Tribute Night" in Milan at the Rainbow Club, the day before their concert at the Fila Forum in Milan. After the show, Manson again demonstrated his great appreciation and support for Dr. Damn (whom he had met as Pierre, months before in California, n.d.r.) and his musical project. To understand this, we need to step back when Dr. Damn saw the first Italian concert of Marilyn Manson at Palalido, in Milan, on June 4, 1997. It was something damn real. To understand all the emotions perceived that night and if the artist Marilyn Manson was "true", Dr.Damn embarked on a multi-step "clarifying" journey, in the States starting from the origins of the character, Canton in Ohio the hometown of Brian Hugh Warner, to continue in Florida in Fort Lauderdale, where the MARILYN MANSON and the SPOOKY KIDS were born, only to end up in California where one day he met Manson on Melrose Avenue at the Necromance, a very strange shop selling the rarest, most unique and grotesque merchandise of the entire L.A. Manson was buying a gift for Twiggy (bones and skeleton of small animals, assembled to give life to a taxonomic hybrid). Manson and Dr. Damn spoke briefly, but exhaustively for both of them. Dr. Damn was impressed by the personality that Manson showed during their conversation: intelligent, calm, deep and patient. It was a very important experience for Dr. Damn, thanks to which he defined the terms for the final realization of the tribute band dedicated and inspired to Marilyn Manson so as to show everyone the "real face" of the "damned" band and its deep spirituality , often ignored and misunderstood. The aim of Godamn Superstar has always been to promote and support underground art in all its forms; nonetheless existential philosophy, conceptual art and the Marilyn Manson's shows and the huge following of his fans, the "Nobodies". After years of hard work, commitment, pursuit of perfection and scenic / philosophical fidelity and several meeting around Europe with Manson, Dr. Damn moved to live in California, where he followed, worked and collaborated with Manson to bring the GODAMN SUPERSTAR, to the maximum of their expressive and musical form. Then there was a fundamental passage in the life and career of Dr. Damn, the very interesting meeting and dialogue between Manson and Dr. Damn at the Marilyn Manson Art show in Los Angeles, on Sunset Blvd. Here he showed sincere affection and support for the ideas of Dr. Damn, who shared in full (see the video reported on it on our website ed) and spent a lot of time talking with him. The artist therefore decided to award the GodamnSuperstar, with the title of Official European Tribute inspired by him, thus giving them a great responsibility. As a further proof of his respect, Manson also offered some of his former stage costumes for the Godamn Superstar shows.
